Raiders from the sea by Lois Walfrid Johnson (Book 1)

Summary: Raiders of the Sea is about the Vikings and a girl named Bree. She has an older brother named Devin and two younger siblings. They all live with their mom, dad, and grandma on a farm in Ireland. But then the Vikings show up and totally mess up Bree's life! I wonder if God has a different plan for Bree than what she thought?

Best moments: When it is Bree's birthday.

Worst moments: When the Vikings take her away from her family.

Favourite parts/quotes: Bree's dad - "Even if I am not with you, God will always be with you"

Mystery of the Silver Coins by Lois Walfrid Johnson (Book 2)

Summary: In the first book, after the Vikings capture Bree, they put her on a ship. In The Mystery of the Silver Coin (Book 2), Bree is still on the Viking ship, where she meets a girl named Lily. Bree manages to escape with Lily when the boat stops at a shore one night. But the captain of the ship, Mikel, finds them and brings Bree and Lily back to the boat before they leave for the Vikings' country. It’s possible that Bree might be able to see her family again?

Best moments: When Bree gets food from a new friend.

Worst moments: When Mikel finds Bree and Lil. Lil gets sick.

Favourite parts/quotes: I like the part where, after Bree manages to run away, she gets some fish to feed herself and Lil.

Summary: The book is about a man named David Brainerd who didn’t really care about God at first. But then he started reading the Bible, and after a few years, he decided to give his heart to the Lord and became a missionary. Around the year 1700, he began preaching to Native American Indians. The story is all about how Brainerd tried to teach the Indians about Jesus and how he made a lot of friends along the way.

Best moments: When he finds out that more than 90 Native Americans have been saved.
Worst moments: When he gets sick but still wants to preach. His friends tell him to take a break, but he keeps going and ends up dying.

Favourite parts/quotes: My favourite parts are when David gets a new horse for a really good price and when he pays for his friend to go to a Christian university.
