Resources for parents

Parenting isn’t easy! While it brings immense joy and rewards, it also presents its fair share of challenges. Let’s be honest—just as our children embark on their unique journeys of learning and growth, we are on that path too. Navigating the diverse personalities, phases, and behaviors of our kids can feel like quite the adventure, and we all need a little support along the way. I certainly don’t have all the answers, and each day offers new lessons. However, I’ve discovered some incredible books that have made a significant impact on my parenting journey, and I’d love to share them with you. I hope you find this information helpful as we explore the wonderfully chaotic world of parenting together!

A few years ago, during a random trip to a Christian bookstore, I came across this book. The title caught my attention, and I ended up buying it. At the time, I had one baby girl, and fast forward a few years and five girls later, I’m so glad I found this book. Just as it says on the front, “A must-read for every daughter’s mother,” I wholeheartedly agree. I’ve had the privilege of reading and gathering all the information shared while my children were still small, and I am incredibly thankful for that.

Ms. Courtney divides the book into three parts, discussing motherhood, the world, culture, girls’ development, and the challenges they may face. She presents many disturbing statistics that were eye-opening for me. Additionally, Courtney shares great insights and her experiences raising her daughter. She touches on many important points worth fighting for, such as self-worth, counteracting cultural pressures, friendship, and self-respect.

At the end of each chapter, the book includes questions for individual or group reflection, which always help organize the reader's thoughts and understanding. I must confess, this is not a one-time read; there is so much information that I’ve reread it several times and will continue to use parts of the book as my children grow. I hope that the insights I gain will better equip both myself and my children as they navigate their own journeys.
