From Personal Experience to Online Sharing

I must say, Master Books curriculum has been a staple in our family for years now. A dear friend of mine recommended it, we gave it a try, and we've never looked back! We have been using their math, English, science, and social science curriculum, and it has been a wonderful fit for our homeschool journey. The best part is that their materials are designed to be "open and go," meaning not much preparation is needed. This has been incredibly helpful for busy, big families like mine, as it takes a lot of pressure off and saves valuable preparation time.

"Math - Lessons for a Living Education features a lovely family with twins Charlie and Charlotte. Students can follow the family’s development and growth as they progress through the math lessons, with the story continuing across different levels of the math curriculum. The book is thoughtfully designed, with a clever integration of math and everyday life events. The curriculum goes beyond just math, incorporating subjects such as science, economics, and important values. My girls have enjoyed “following” what happens to Charlie and Charlotte as they grow and watching the family’s development unfold through each level."

Math

"Life for Beginners has been a wonderful introduction to science, as the book comes filled with engaging activities. The girls made excellent use of the garden, purposefully searching for worms and observing life. I recall one activity where the girls brought their findings, such as the worms and other creatures, to the dining room table, sharing their discoveries with enthusiasm. We had many insightful discussions and enjoyed hands-on learning throughout. This book provided plenty of ideas for activities, offering opportunities to add even more experiences. We especially enjoyed outings to explore plants that we could find in our local forests and parks."

Science

“Let’s Talk Science” by Carrie Lindquist was a godsend for our family. We use this book interchangeably with Life (the book mentioned above). “Adventures in Creation” (Level 1) is beautifully presented and has an abundance of great pictures. It offers many hands-on experiments, arts and crafts, copywork, Bible verses, and encourages nature observations, such as different types of clouds. Lindquist describes this book as “an exciting scientific journey through the days of creation!” It features Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel, with Adam explaining to his children how God created the world. The book features stunning illustrations that bring the content to life.

I needed to purchase a few things before the lessons; there is more preparation needed with this book. The material list is described per lesson, and parents can choose to prepare each week or weeks in advance. I purchased items such as prisms, Cheetos, coloured cellophane, and a few other supplies, and it was all worth it. We went all in and did all the activities suggested. I totally recommend the full experience. Personally, I loved how engaging the children were in each lesson. The copy work is short, with some just a few words or one small sentence, perfect for young, little sponge minds. As a big family, we chose to buy one book and print the activities for each child.

Reading Eggs personal review

Reading Eggs is an interactive online program that focuses on literacy and numeracy. It includes its own virtual library with a wide variety of books covering different subjects and reading levels, and it adapts to each child’s ability and progress. They also have printing material available to follow the lessons.

It was first recommended to me by a dear friend, and since then our family has been using Reading Eggs for several years. Honestly, it has been a Godsend for our homeschool. The program is designed for children ages 2 to 13, and each subscription allows you to register up to four children. This setup has been perfect for us—just as my oldest outgrew it at 13, my youngest turned 3, so we’ve always had four kids using the program at once.

Reading Eggs does exactly what it promises: it helps children learn to read in an interactive, animated, and engaging way. It has been such a blessing in our home.

One of my favourite things about Reading Eggs is the step-by-step learning process. It gives me peace of mind knowing the children are covering all the important foundational concepts—things like big vs. small, long vs. short—skills that can easily get overlooked in a busy household.

It’s all done in such a fun and engaging way that my girls literally ask to do their Reading Eggs lessons. As a homeschool parent, that’s priceless.

Another big benefit, in my opinion, is the safety factor. Once a child is on the Reading Eggs platform, everything is secure and ad-free. Unlike other websites where unexpected commercials or questionable content can pop up, Reading Eggs is a safe online environment. Even the games are educational, reinforcing literacy and math skills instead of being distractions.

On top of reading and math, Reading Eggs includes fun competitions where children can write and illustrate their own stories. If selected, their work gets published on the platform for others to read. My girls have entered a few times and always look forward to seeing the winners—it inspires creativity, confidence, and pride in their achievements.

Reading Eggs also offers ideas for arts, crafts, and science projects for little ones. My girls really enjoyed these hands-on activities—sometimes making slime by following the recipes, other times diving into arts and crafts. It’s a wonderful way to connect online learning with real-world creativity and exploration.

For our homeschool, Reading Eggs has been more than just a program—it has been a trusted tool that makes learning fun, safe, and creative. If you’re looking for something that keeps your kids motivated and engaged while giving you peace of mind, I highly recommend giving the free trial a try here.

ABC Jesus Loves Me

ABC Jesus Loves Me is a free, faith-based curriculum website designed for children ages 12 months to 5 years old. They offer wonderful activity ideas, lesson plans, free printables, and easy-to-follow learning activities.

I recently discovered this website and started exploring it with my 3-year-old daughter. She keeps asking for her “homecool,” and ABC Jesus Loves Me has given me so many amazing ideas to use with her. Honestly, I wish I had known about this resource sooner!

The platform is beautifully organized by age, making it simple to find the right curriculum and activities for your child. It’s very user-friendly and definitely worth checking out if your little one is within this age range.

I’ll be sharing more as I continue to use the resources and see how my daughter responds to them, but so far I am truly impressed.
